Library "extras"!

« BALI - 39 clés du paradis », a book by I Made Suradiya is still for sale at a price of 100,000 IDR. A wealth of information on Bali, which is a part of Indonesian culture. The book is lavishly illustrated with black and white photos on the Balinese life and ceremonies. It will be useful, either for  French-speaking visitors who wish to know more about Balinese culture, but also for the Indonesians who wish to improve their explanations on Bali in French.

Forum Jakarta-Paris has published two collections of Indonesian short stories translated into French. These are short texts of high literary quality, that reflect the styles and contexts, all sorts of facets of reality in Indonesia. These books are in large part from a large collection assembled and translated by Denys Lombard once, but they are here organised around one theme per volume.
« Maman monte au ciel » refers, on the very wide register of religious rites, beliefs and imagination, the multiple attempts by individuals to transcend their condition.
« Vigile » deals with the history of convulsions that have shaken Indonesia in the years 1930-1950 (end of the colonial era, Japanese occupation, revolution, Independence).
They are on sale at AF Denpasar for 20,000 IDR (versus 30,000 IDR in bookstores).
